Market Day Is Finally Here!

Hello Friends! Well after 9 months of planning, dreaming, scheming, yard sailing, auctioning, flea marting, dumpster diving, bartering, buying, picking, painting, sanding, and loving...the day finally came! My very first market day and proof to my husband and son that they do not need to call
It has been raining in NW Montana for three weeks straight, but we managed to stay dry on market day. The wind was troublesome and some vendors lost some of their special treasures, those pop up tents can be a blessing or a menace depending on the weather I have learned! Despite the chilly June temps, there was a line of loyal junkers and the crowd was pretty steady most of the day.

My children's chalkboard desk was a big hit among tiny artists throughout the day!

Some of my smalls!

Pretty Desk and quilt chair done in CeCe Caldwell
Montana Blue Chalk Paint! I got all of my Chalk Paint from Orphaned Decor and they were sweet and helpful!

More fun smalls

Pretty Aqua pine cabinet...I LOVED this cabinet and was happy to see it go to a cute little mama and her little girl! In true junker style she fit this in her little car down to the last inch!

Red Hen and I had the very best time and are very excited for our next one on July 14th! Thanks to all my family and friends who have loved and supported me through all my crazy dreams and adventures...I'm a lucky blessed girl and boy do I know it! Love you guys! Happy Junkin!

I want to give an extra special shout out to my Mama who made Red Hen and I the cutest aprons for market! Your the best! xoxo

My New FancyPants Phone

Hello friends! So I finally broke down and got an iPhone! Coming from a Blackberry is quite a change. I am loving all the apps, especially this one where I can write my blog from my phone! One of the things I was having trouble with on my old phone was getting any decent photos and then it was very hard to load them to my blog or FB. So now my photos should improve but I fear for my spelling because I am struggling with this touch screen stuff! Ha guess its never perfect right!? This is my test run to put a post on blogger with my fancy pants phone and I threw in some pics of my CeCe Caldwell painting fun! All I can say is all the hub bub is true and this chalk paint is amazing...and worth the cost too! I use plastic knives for stir sticks in these small quart size paint cans. There's my recycle tip for the day woot! My first vintage market is only a month away so hopefully all this is going to come together soon...or else someone is going to turn me in as a hoarder! Hahaaahaaa! Have a great day!

My Sweet Addiction

I have a weakness for fabric and ribbon and notions. I'm going to go ahead and give the fabric addiction credit to my Mama. My sisters and I are all well aware that any inheritance that comes from her will be in the form of fabric and half done quilts.

She did teach us all how to sew, but I think we all prefer to ogle and drool over the fabric selecting and then leave the actual sewing up to my Mama. If digital photography was around when my sisters and I all went to Prom I could show you some awesome dresses she made for us...and some awesome hair do's to match! This was in the 80s and 90s so I know you know what I'm talking about when I say awesome, wink wink.

I have a special fondness for ribbon and I will tie it around just about anything. This is from my latest shopping trip and it is clear to see that my own daughter's inheritance might come in the form of fabric and ribbon as well, but that's how we roll!

I Missed You!

Hello Friends! Winter is trying to hang on here but Spring has made herself noticed! The piles of deep snow are all gone, only the biggest piles in the shadiest spots have any snow left. The grass is starting to green, which brings more birds for the worms. I have done some major Spring cleaning, including the windows. Inside and out, whoa!

I looked at the last time I blogged and it was way back in February, for as long as Winter is in Montana, this one flew right by for me. Any local people that just read that probably growled at me for saying that, sorry. I was super lucky and got to spend six whole weeks in sunny California. Even better was that I was surrounded by family and friends and had the very best time a girl can have! It was truly so special to me and I owe a HUGE shout out to my husband who worked extra hard and sacrificed his own comfort so my son and I could do that. Thank You Husband!

We were mainly staying in Rancho Mirage, which is near Palm Springs for out of staters or countriers, and it's a lovely resort community in the desert. When I say lovely and resort, I mean it... green grass, oodles of flowers everywhere, Palm Trees, beautiful water fountains...and lots of retirees. It's warm and sunny almost everyday. Again, sorry to my local friends.

We did so many fun, touristy things and loved every minute of it! We went to the beach and had the best time ever. There were seals and the sun was out and my Montana kiddo got to play in the ocean. I was with my SisInLaw and niece and my son and it was a completely great day full of memories. I also got to spend time with All three of my sisters and my Mama, my niece, and my daughter! I will just say that Good Times were had by All!

I had so many fun adventures and laughs and I feel beyond Blessed for the gift of Time. I knew it was special while it was happening...not being at work or in the snow was the big tip off, so I was really able to be present and Grateful for quality time I got to have with so many of my closest family and best girlfriends, and new babies, and precious reunions. I was also afforded the gift of Time for ME! Lots of time to sit and think and process. Lots of Time to see and do and relax. Lots of Time to Reflect, give extra Love, and Pray. I wish this same gift of Time to each and every One of you too! Truly xoxo!

I Love the Rose Bowl Flea Mart

I finally made it to the Rose Bowl Flea Mart, with my sister and her 4 month old, Jack! Some of you might be questioning taking a 4 month old junkin but it's really quite genius, his mama carried him in some baby contraption and we loaded the stroller with treasure. Plus he's super cute to boot. I mentioned in a previous post that my dad used to take me and my three sisters to the Rose Bowl when we were kids to hunt for bargains, but I haven't been back since, so i wasn't sure what to expect. I had already been told it is pretty pricey but there are bargains to be found...I would agree with that. It took me four hours to collect my beautiful pile of junk love pictured above.

I Love this color blue so much, I'm sure that's really weird but it is truly the lovliest!

This little suitcase was one of my favorite finds. I love vintage suitcases but a lot of times when you open them they are plastic inside. I do not like plastic. When I opened this and it was lovely red, plaid fabric...eeeee! And a mirror, oh my gosh. I Love this suitcase, it will be hard to sell. Hmmm, this could be a problem for me in the future.

I wanted to make sure i got a picture of the rusty was a bargain! Isn't it pretty?

I also got a bag full of linens, tablecloths, and pretty hand embrordered lovelies. There's too many to show  you so I'll leave you with this cheery, yellow table cloth...sigh, I want to keep this too.

I did come across some other good deals but had to be somewhat rational considering I have to get it all home to Montana. There was a great little stained glass window and it was a super price, but it was already broken and looked too fragile, but oh man was it fantastic! It was also really fun to see all of the fun and interesting California pickers and treasure hunters, it's a colorful group! I had the greatest time ever just finding our way through the maze of rows of beautiful vintage, rusty junk, shabby shic, industrial, and artisitic repurposing. My sister is one of my very most favorite humans and pickin is one of my veru most favorite things to do, it was a happy memory maker for sure!

 Hello Friends!
Hope this finds everyone Happy and healthy, warm, and Loved! I have been so busy lately. I usually do a lot of hibernating in the Winter, and I've still done my share this year, but I have also been busy. It's nice, I like it. I am sure that the Very mild Winter and warm temperatures we have had probably has helped a lot! I was able to do some work for our Log Home Maintenance business, which usually ends quite abruptly by the end of October. I have also been busy buying, refinishing, and reloving some great finds for my very first ever vintage market in June! Eeeee! I'm nervous and excited already, good gravy imagine when the day actually comes! I won't lie to you, I have shared some time on Pinterest, FB, and bloggyworld as well. It's actually really nice to have access to all that fun stuff online during the Winter, TV is a last choice these days in my house. And it's even nicer to make friends from all over and gather and share crafts and junk and family and spirit! xoxo

Beyond Excited!

Hello Friends! It's done, my new and much improved blog is finished and I Love it so much! The most super awesome gal did all this for me and I cannot even begin to tell you what amazing work ethic and talent she has! You may find her on etsy, her business name is Little Web Writing Hood! How cute is that? I will figure out how to be fancypants and make a link to her site...but that might take me a bit! I also met a super friend through doing this and am so happy we met...through emails that is. She lives in TX and I'm in MT, but she found my little blog and befriended me and referred me to Little Web Writing Hood, and we've been chatting and daydreaming and are two peas in a pod the two of us! Isn't that the best! A new blog and two new friends...Jana and Deana you guys rock!
So here it is, what do you guys think? I am dying to hear back from someone! Eeeee, did I mention how excited I am!

Wait For It...

Friends! So many exciting things are happening with my blog right now, I found someone totally amazing to help me, and I can't wait until it's finished and I can give it to you, because it's for you and I Really want you to Love it! You'll be able to link to my Pinterest too, eeee! This was one of my top New Years resolution and it's happening so much faster than I even thought. Now I really need to do my Quickbooks for our Log Home Maintenance business, not fun at all! Especially when Pinterest and FB are just a click away. We've gotten almost two feet of snow since yesterday and it's still snowing so it's perfect timing for endless hours of boring data entry....sigh.

I am also counting down the days until Bodie the Great and I are going to sunny Palm Springs, CA to reunite with my husband and see family and friends...and do California touristy fun, stuff, and not wear snow boots and bring in firewood! My husband has been working down there for a few months, our goal is to be snowbirds. Working snowbirds. For now, it's time apart and him working extra hard. I Love that guy! I am going to go to the Rose Bowl Flea Market and the Long Beach Antiques Mart and I am so excited! My husband drove to CA in his truck, wink wink. I hope to fill every free space there is in that truck with treasures for Market this Summer. Things are moving and happening in my life in a lot of areas and I am so thankful to be right where I am.

Tiny Temples

I was chatting it up with one of my closest friends the other day and we were talking about our design and home style, we both agreed we had too small of spaces to have the luxury of having an actual style, ha. I was giving her some tips on making a special little sacred space, a tiny temple where she can put special things that have meaning to her. We agreed that everything I own is a tiny temple. I am a very sentimental, nostalgic girl...very. Our house is so small I have to be really choosy about what stays and what goes, which is hard for a junker! The result is that everything I own has meaning to me or I absolutely just Love it!

I was tucking my son in bed the other night, he has bunk beds so you have to climb up a ladder. I love going up there because it is his own little world, and I noticed that he also has tiny temples everywhere! He had his dad put shelves up by where he sleeps and they are filled with all of the magical treasures you have when you are nine. I took some pictures of his world to share with you. He also has a huge tie die peace sign hanging from the ceiling right above his bed. That treasure is leftover from my adventures following the Grateful Dead around 25 years's awesome when your kids think you have cool things!

I don't know what your style is but I hope you have things that you Love and that make you feel good, and when you look around maybe you'll find you have tiny temples too!

Matters of the Heart

The moon coming up over my garden makes me really wish I could go out there and do a little moonlight flower picking, but it's clearly hibernating at this time. I do some hibernating myself in the Winter, and although sometimes I might moan and groan a wee little bit about Winter come March, I appreciate the quiet that the season brings. I am a very reflective person on any day of the week but Winter really brings me in touch with my Heart and the things that matter to me. I have time to dream and hope and scheme and time to be grateful.
It's dark at five in the evening and I take Bodie the Great to school in the dark in the morning. I am self employed and it's very easy for me to hermit! I'm also a dreamer. I could easily waste away time playing and daydreaming, wishing and hoping, and praying and loving. I'm one of those people who would prefer to have money and success right from the start and then leave this earth worn out, broke, and weathered. Just how I like my junk, wink wink! I have a clear vision of what I want for and from myself and this life but I have no idea about the logistics. I pray for big, neon signs all the time! The signs I get aren't big and neon though, they are usually subtle and quiet, looking like they've been there all along just waiting for me to make my way...hmmm. I warned you I was reflective!
There are so many things I would love to accomplish this year and after all of this quiet, Wintry time passes I get busy putting all those daydreams into action. In the Summer here, the sun doesn't go down until eleven at night and it comes up around five thirty. People that live here jam so much living and playing and working and doing into the short Summer it's pretty darn amazing. Ha, so just think, my posts won't always be so mushy, they will change with the seasons pretty much!
I am still really excited to get my new little junk business going and my Heart beats strong for it still, so I'm all in!
